"Apply Incoming Filters" property problem

Hi,

I wanted to try the inherited properties and to define a second of my IMAP-folders to have Thunderbird get the mails and use all defined filters for that IMAP account. (This new filter is not a child of Inbox). I also have set on the second folder that TB will check for new messages automatically.

Now my problem is the following:

When I start thunderbird all filters are processed on the normal Inbox but not on the second folder. When I now open the IMAP account and click on that second folder then the filters are processed on that folder too… and after it for that Thunderbird session it will process the filters automatically for any new message.

When I restart thunderbird it is the same again – it will not process the filters on the second-folder till I open that folder once …

Any idea what this can be and how to fix it?

PS: I also tested this in safe-mode and it's the same behaviour :-(

I would have to dive into the IMAP code to understand what causes this behaviour. the only thing the really surprises me though is that it continues to work after you have clicked on it once.

It should be possible in FiltaQuilla to do whatever is needed automatically, so that folders that are set to process filters are automatically added to the list of folders that are kept up to date. I'll file myself a bug on that, and consider investigating for a future upgrade.

Hm … I looked around a bit more and found the idea to set "mail.imap.use_status_for_biff" to false to solve problems with STATUS command of some IMAP servers.

So I tried this and now it works automatically from the start on. So it seems to be our IMAP server that caused this problem …

The only negative side effect is that he gets the mails sometimes twice and I have them doubled in the folders when I move them :-(((

PS: In the meantime I re-enabled "mail.imap.use_status_for_biff" again because the other option caused double downloads, folder-locks and all such things … It was not funny to work with :-(
