Two feature requests, two questions, and a comment.

Feature requests: These might be tough.

1.   Option to delete the attachment when the message is transferred to trash or when deleted from trash.

2.  Lower priority (I don't need this, but others might).  For retroactive use–saving all previous attchments from many years of Thunderbird email–one could request the following option: the saved file has the date of the original email.  Attachment Extractor can do this but is no longer maintained and has glitches.  You are currently more involved with Thunderbird.

Questions

A.   How to ensure that Filtaquilla runs **after** junk filtering, to avoid clogging up the saved attachments folder w/ junk.

B.  If I simply command Filtaquilla to save attachments, does it still rewrite the message–with the attendant possibilities for corruption?

Comment:

i.  Seems to work with Eudora OSE 1.0rc2, which derives from thunderbird 3.0.4

Response to questions:

1) In TB 3 and later, there is a filter option to run the filter "after classification". When you use this option, then the filters run after the junk mail classifier (and new search options are available, including junk status and junk percent).

2) Save attachments does not AFAIK rewrite the message. However, detach attachment (which requires TB 3.1) does rewrite the message.

Thanks for (1); it does indeed solve my issue (A)

Another problem:

3) The Apple Mail attachment bug.

Thunderbird bug reports mention that the "detach" feature does not work on some messages sent from Apple Mail.  Apparently Filtaquilla's "save attachment" feature fails in this regard too–it saves zero-length attachment files.

We're not dicussing "detach" here, merely "save attachment"–surprising in view of rkent's comment (2) that "save" operates differently from "detach".   If you like, I'll have my Mac correspondent send you a test email.

I would be interested in seeing an email that fails with "save". You could send me a test email to rkent@mesquilla.com
