…thunderbird is anoying.

i have large filter-lists, and the bigger the list the slower is thunderbird when it comes to edit/add/save new filters (it takes sometimes >10s to be able to save my filter list on a fast pc with quad core cpu, 4gb raman and ssd running nothing else than thunderbird. i saw a bug report about this behaviour (if you try to save a large filter list thunderbird gives an error
message – after waiting some time you can click again and it saves the
list) , but the developers don't care – the same way they don't care about a good filter… ('nobody needs regexp' … hmpfl)

to come to the point:

it would be realy nice if you could use somehow an own filterlist-file (like adblock plus) – this would make live much easier for people with large filter lists (i doubt that the thunderbird developers will fix the problem in the future – they care more about themes and other useless stuff…)

another feature i really miss is this global setting: 'always use case insensitive regexp'.

actually i filter many rss-feeds by subject and there is no filter that has to be case sensitive.

anyway, continue developing your fantastic extension – it's one reason why i stick to thunderbird – thanks!

What you are describing is a well-known current limitation of Thunderbird 3.0. I've done some fixes to that editor in the past (and perhaps contributed to your problem by fixing a filter scrolling issue in 3.0 for 3.1). It's probably a big job to rewrite that filter list editor to solve all of its problems. But if I were to do it, I would probably do it for core, though I might release it first as an extension.

As for your regexp global issue, I am not familiar with this global setting. You can do this now on a filter-by-filter basis in FiltaQuilla already, right? So you are asking that I add a feature that would always add a case-insensitive flag to the regex expression?
